New Labels At Long Last!

At the beginning of 2019, we realized that our retail business had grown so much that we needed more informative and eye-catching labels. So we brought in Peter Laundy, a designer with decades of experience, and he met with Janie’s Mill owners Harold and Ross Wilken, along with our senior mill manager and head miller Jill Brockman-Cummings. We also received valuable input from Ellen King, founder and baker at Hewn Bread in Evanston, IL, who uses our flours, and also sells our retail packages (pictured above).
The project quickly expanded to not only new labels, but a new name (we shortened “The Mill at Janie’s Farm” to “Janie’s Mill” since that’s what most folks called us anyway, and the customer is always right!), a new logo and tagline, and new bags with printing on all sides to provide information about who we are, what we do, and why.
After many, many iterations, we now have new labels -- and Cecilia had our Mill Manager model them as soon as they came in the door!
But even though we have new labels, some new products, new bags, and a new logo . . . as the French say, “plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose” — the more things change, the more they stay the same.
What stays the same at Janie’s Mill is . . .
-
the top-notch quality of each and every one of our stone-ground organic products,
-
the passion and hard work of Janie’s Mill owners and farmers Harold (pictured below) and Sandy Wilken, their son Ross, and daughter Emily,
-
and the unwavering commitment of everyone at Janie’s Mill to making our Earth, our community, and your baked goods better!
