Our organic wheat flakes have a pleasing texture and nutty taste. You can use them as you would regular (non-instant) rolled oats -- for wholesome granola, hot cereal, cookies, breads and other baked goods, as well as for a porridge inclusion or nice topping for your favorite bread. (Cooking time for wheat flakes is slightly longer than for our oat flakes.)
To create these flavorful and nutritious organic wheat flakes, we first run our certified organic Soft Red Winter Wheat berries through a convection oven and then through a roller/flaker. This process gelatinizes starches in the whole grain, giving the flakes a rich, nutty, slightly toasted flavor, while also adding to the product's shelf life. Wheat flakes are also perfect for home-brewers and make a great Weizenbier (wheat beer)!
