    Turkey Red is an heirloom hard red winter wheat that originated in Turkey. It arrived in Kansas with Russian Mennonite immigrants in 1873. Prized for its hardiness, rich flavors, and excellent baking qualities, Turkey Red has been recognized by Slow Food and put on their Ark of Taste.
