    We stone mill the entire buckwheat groat, including the hull, so our organic buckwheat flour is darker than that from de-hulled buckwheat. It’s also more nutritious and contains more fiber!

    In the U.S., buckwheat is most often used for pancakes, but it can also be added to many yeast and quick breads, muffins, and cookies. In Asia, the most common use for buckwheat flour is to make noodles, including the famous Japanese soba noodles.

Buckwheat flour cinnamon rolls!

I love Janie’s Mill Buckwheat flour for making my homemade cinnamon rolls! Its naturally sweet flavor and slightly nutty flavor makes for a delicious treat. I substitute 70/30 buckwheat to bread flour and follow my recipe. Also fantastic for pancakes! Love everything from the Mill!

So Glad I Discovered Janie's

How glad I am to have discovered Janie's! I decided to start with just an order of whole buckwheat flour to see how things went, and I could not be more pleased. My previous source for this product (I won't name names) always seemed to have problems with the website, problems with phone orders, constant excuses regarding shipping delays. Janie's process was just seamless and stressless. I will certainly now be exploring their other products, too.

My new favorite flour to add in sourdough

I thought I would try this to add in my sourdough recipe. I found a buckwheat sourdough recipe and have used it for bread 2 times so far. Today I made a great tasting loaf that had high protein bread flour, buckwheat and some black emmer. Just delicious!

My wife has always liked buckwheat flour, especially pancakes. Up until I tried Janie's buckwheat flour I was never a real fan. I can't believe how getting a quality product can make such a difference. I now really enjoy when my Dear makes delicious buckwheat pancakes. The taste is clean and smooth. Others can leave a grainy consistency on the palate, but not this flour. Terrific in every way!
