    This ancient whole grain is rich in protein, phosphorus, vitamin B6, potassium, antioxidants and amino acids. Its unique appearance — more similar to rice or orzo than modern wheat — reflects its ancient origin. Einkorn means “one-kernel" and refers to the way this ancient wheat grows, with one single grain per spikelet. Our organic einkorn berries are great in grain salads and breakfast bowls.

If you've never eaten wheat berries...

...this is the berry for you! Super soft and full of flavor, these berries are terrific soaked for a couple of hours and cooked for 45 minutes with a little Better Than Bullion and toasted fennel and coriander seeds. My guests are always amazed when I tell them what they are eating. Oh, and these berries make lovely biscuits when milled. Great price for a delicious and versatile berry.

Looking to add more protein

Taste wonderful in salad to add more protein. I have been soaking over night quicker to cook easier to digest if you have sensitive stomach.

Love this in honey wheat loaf!

Only use about 20% einkorn but it gives the bread a wonderful flavor!

Fantastic "Cream of Wheat"

We have been trying to add more ancient grains into our diet and have a MockMill grain mill to help with this. That said, we've tried Einkorn berries, breads, cookies, pancakes, etc. However, none of these became favorites. On a whim I milled some Einkorn berries at 9 on my MockMill and cooked it in the same way as the boxed "Cream of Wheat". We love it--it is very tasty and filling. We're so grateful to have Janie's Mill Einkorn and all of the other products--great berries, flakes, speedy shipping and wonderful to support a local business.

Einkorn Wheat Berries--not just great for bread

I’ve baked bread products with this ancient grain for years. The protein is not as strong as bread flour, but i add sprouted Einkorn berries (10-20%) in my recipe. I also add the wheat berries (I sprout my own) into breads (~5%), in many veg dishes, and with Janie’s Barley Flakes and rolled oats with berries for breakfast.
