Thank you for donating our versatile All-Purpose Flour to a neighbor in need!

Janie's Mill is matching all donations one-to-one, so the more you donate, the more we match, and the more high-quality nutritious flour goes to our community.

The recipient of Janie's Mill "Neighbor Grains" donations for the first quarter of 2026 is Rooted for Good. This community-driven nonprofit has provided over 2 million pounds of food to neighbors across DeKalb County in northern Illinois since being founded in 2012.

Rooted for Good expands access to healthy, sustainably grown food in many ways, including a food pantry, community education, and gardening programs that connect neighbors to the nourishment and support they deserve.

Thanks again for your gift of wholesome All-Purpose Flour. Your donation provides a family with a wholesome ingredient for muffins, pancakes, biscuits, banana bread and more!

Please note that the Neighbor Grains product will NOT be shipped to you with your order. Instead, all bags of flour purchased as part of our Neighbor Grains donation program, as well as the Janie's Mill match, are delivered directly to our recipient organization at the end of the quarter.

The Neighbor Grains back story:

Early in 2025, a popular federal program that provided funding for food banks and other organizations to purchase healthy local foods was eliminated. This occurred as other funding for programs focused on alleviating food insecurity were also cut.

So Janie’s Mill decided to help our neighbors in need, and offer you a way to help, too!

Neighbor Grains was inspired by Neighbor Loaves, a program implemented by many of our brick & mortar bakeries during the pandemic to assist those in need.  Our version is similar, only we donate wholesome flours instead of loaves so that recipients can make pancakes, muffins, cookies, or whatever they like!

We tally all Neighbor Grains donations at the end of each quarter and then deliver them to a non-profit focused on providing access to healthy foods. Our recipient for the first quarter of 2026 is Rooted for Good.

Janie’s Mill is matching each and every donation!  For example, if 500 bags of flour are donated by the community, Janie’s Mill will kick in 500 additional bags!  We will also provide quarterly reports on your donations and our match for full transparency.
